Tourists will able to stay in Thailand for up to nine months

In order to reopen Thailand for tourists, the Minister of Tourism and Sports of Thailand, Piphata Ratchakitprakarna, proposed to focus on tourists who come for a long time. In particular, steps to attract tourists will include the possibility of obtaining a long visa, which will allow you to stay in the kingdom for up to 9 months.

LONG-TERM VISAS TO THAILAND FOR THE PERIOD OF STAY UP TO 9 MONTHS.

At first, a visa will be issued for 3 months, with the possibility of its two-fold extension, which will allow the tourist to stay in the country for up to 9 months.

In addition to a visa, a foreigner to arrive in the country will need to provide a medical certificate confirming the absence of coronavirus at the time of departure to Thailand. You will also need to provide medical insurance for the entire stay with coverage of US $ 100,000. All tourists staying will be accommodated in hotels for two weeks to undergo quarantine, at the end of their stay in quarantine, another coronavirus test will be taken, and if it is negative, tourists can leave the hotel.

WHO IS PLEASED TO WELCOME TO THAILAND?

Research in Phuket has shown that European tourists are spending more. Last year, they accounted for 17% of the total tourist flow, but at the same time, the share of income received from them amounted to 24% of the total amount of Phuket's tourism income.

The new travel concept targets senior citizens from developed countries who want to spend the winter on the shores of the warm sea or undergo medical treatment in Thailand.

Thailand could use the Covid 19 pandemic to test a new concept in tourism that will move away from low-budget mass tourism, which has already become a problem for the country.

OPENING OF PHUKET IN OCTOBER

First of all, the island of Phuket will open for tourists; it will be possible to fly to the island in October. Many hotels on the island are now undergoing the necessary checks in order to obtain permission from the Thai authorities to place tourists in quarantine. In order for tourists to feel comfortable, the Thai authorities propose to allocate for them a part of the beach, which can be visited during quarantine at the hotel.

If the experiment in Phuket is considered successful, it will be extended to other regions of the country affected by the pandemic (Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Koh Samui, Pattaya).
